Where it fits in a guild
Silk floss tree takes the Emergent stratum in the Secondary I phase of succession — in a guild it shares the line with species from the other strata, each harvesting light at its own height, in its own time.

🪴 Cultivation
A subtropical-to-tropical tree, very drought-tolerant once established thanks to a deep taproot with extensive laterals and a water-storing swollen trunk. Prefers rich, well-drained soil (pH 5.5–7.5). Seeds germinate in 5–8 days (>80%). Drops leaves below ~-3 °C; prolonged frost causes damage.
📅 Phenology
Flowering months: February, March, April, May
Fruiting months: June, July, August, September
